Description: [4], 59 pp. Half-title present. (8vo) stitched sheets. First Philadelphia Edition.Also published in Boston the same year. Ames was a vocal supporter of the Jay's Treaty with England. His eloquent speech has been called "the most bewitching piece of parliamentary oratory I ever heard." (Joseph Priestly). Channing's History called it "one of the greatest speeches ever made in Congress." Sabin 1032.
