Island of Oahu, Territory of Hawaii, be, and the same are hereby, withdrawn and set aside for military purposes... 28 March, 1917. * Hawaii - Honolulu Lands Restored to Territory... A Proclamation. June 2, 1919. Together, 2 printed documents, each on both sides of single sheet 33x20.4 cm. (13x8").The first sets aside land for the Waimanalo Military Reservation, which was renamed Bellows Field in 1933 after Lt. Franklin Barney Bellows, a World War I war hero. Bellows Field was one of the airfields attacked during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The second restores to Hawaiian control a lighthouse formerly under U.S. jurisdiction.
