Author: Fiske, George Description: 18.5x11 cm. (7½x4¼"), affixed along left edge to trimmed album leaf, otherwise unmounted. Signed in the negative and numbered 492.Massive giant Sequoia with tunnel cut through it. George Fiske (1835-1918) was Yosemite’s first resident photographer, active primarily in the late 19th century. He learned his craft working with Charles Weed, who produced the first photographs of Yosemite, and later with Carleton E. Watkins and Eadweard Muybridge.
