Description: The exterior view is 18x11 cm. (7x4½"), with imprint of Herbert A. Hale, Coronado, Cal., on the back of the mount; the interior view is 11x19.5 cm. (4¼x7½"); both on original card stock mounts.The nephew of successful San Diego merchant Samuel Steiner, Sig Steiner formed a partnership with P.A. Graham in 1886, and they operated general merchandise stores in Escondido and Bernardo, north of San Diego. The store here pictured is the one in Escondido. The exterior photograph shows the storefront with several men on the porch, a horse-drawn wagon in front; the interior shows the stacked merchandise and the counter for dining. with clerks and a few customers.
