First Edition.First volume from the "Subscriber's Edition" of 1500 autograph copies, this #587. First 2 volumes (published in 1912) contain a history of the state, the 3 later volumes (1917) cover the history of the 26 counties. A cornerstone text on New Mexico history, uncommon in complete sets. Laid in is a typeset address dated July 31, 1912 from the President of the Historical Society of New Mexico, L. Bradford Prince to Colonel Twitchell praising him for his work. Howes T443; Adams, Six-guns 2254.

Condition report

Bindings not quite uniform, as noted, slight fading to spines of last 3 volumes; last 3 volumes with ink name stamp to endpapers, vol. 3 hinges cracked; else set is near fine.
