PATRIARCHAL CROSS - RUSSIA CIRCA 1840

Chain: 18" Sterling Silver Necklace. Measures: 1.75" Tall X 1" Wide. Metal: Bronze Cross, Sterling Silver Frame. The Patriarchal Cross Has A Smaller Crossbar Placed Above The Main One, So That Both Crossbars Are Near The Top. This Type Of Cross Was First Seen In Byzantine Greek And Eastern European Iconography, As Well As In Eastern Orthodox Churches. This Bronze Cross Was Found By Relic Hunters In Southern Russia Along With A Small Hoard Of Coins Dated In The 1840's. The Original Cross Has Been Framed In A Sterling Silver Border Handcrafted By A Master Jeweler. Cross Comes Complete On An 18" Sterling Silver Necklace Along With A Descriptive Card And Certificate Of Authenticity.
