fine woodcut illustrations, 3 full-page at the beginning of each part, the rest two-thirds page, occasional slight soiling, 18th century mottled calf, rebacked, spine gilt with Devonshire monogram device, slightly rubbed, [cf Mortimer Italian 146 note], 4to, Venice, Girolamo Albrizzi, 1696.

***The Chatsworth copy with bookplate. The illustrations originally appeared in a 1544 edition printed by Francesco Marcolini. "Seventy-nine out of the original eighty-five blocks were in the hands of Girolamo Albrizzi in 1696 for a Venice edition..." (Mortimer).
