K-O with small areas of worming repaired, a few stains, some light foxing, [Caillet 5541 (1639 edition); Landwehr 415 (1589 edition)], Venice, apud Ioannem Baptistam Bertonum, 1605 bound with Joachim (Abbot of Fiore) Vaticina seu Prædictiones Illustrium Virorum, title within ornate engraved architectural border, 6 full-page engraved astronomical illustrations, repairs to lower corners and some worm traces within text, loss of a few letters on a few ff., small stain just within 1 illustration, [Caillet 5542], Venice, Gio. Battista Bertoni, 1605, modern vellum, 4to ***Caillet says of both works that they are 'fort rare'. Joachim of Fiore, c.1135-1202, was a mystic, theologian and an esoterist. A group of followers know as Joachimites arose from his writings. Many of these believed that there was an Antichrist already in the world in the form of Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor. A great number of Joachim's theories were confuted by Thomas Aquinas in his Summa Theologica. Nevertheless, the Abbot was put in Paradise by Dante in his Divine Comedy..
