Field Sports.- [Fortin de Grandmont (François)] Delices de la Campagne ou les Ruses de la Chasse et de la Pesche, 2 vol., fourth edition, engraved frontispiece, titles in red and black, 90 engraved plates, 9 folding, text lightly browned, frontispiece shaved at fore-edge just touching image, contemporary ink inscriptions of "Samuel Tule at Tottenham High Cross 1732 Nettmaker" (crossed out in vol.1) and "Philip Griffin Warnford Hants" on front endpapers, contemporary sprinkled calf, rebacked with gilt spines (repaired), [Schwerdt I p.136; cf.Westwood & Stachell, p.180], 8vo, Amsterdam, Michel Charles le Cene, 1732. ***On the art of capturing fish, game and vermin with traps and nets; originally published in 1660 and the prototype and inspiration for future works on the subject. Westwood & Satchell calls it "on the whole, the most interesting contribution made by France to the literature of angling". It also includes chapters on falconry..
