Brès (Jean Pierre) Les Jeudis dans le Chateau de ma Tante, 8 parts, each with a half-title and a fine hand-coloured engraved frontispiece, foxing (heavier to the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 8th 'Jeudi'; but not affecting frontispieces), each part in original hand-coloured pictorial wrappers, 'Sixième Jeudi' with a very short neat tear at head of upper cover, all parts with some light marking, but generally in good bright condition, housed in original pictorial card box, hand-coloured engraved view to box lid, framed in thin gilt metal banding, a section of this missing and with ?contemporary gilt paper replacing it, top lid repaired internally, lower lid spotted, rubbed, [Gumuchian 914; cf. Gumuchian 915], parts 12mo, box 220 x 165mm, Paris and London, [Jules Didot aîné for] Lefuel, n.d. [c.1830]. ***Rare, especially in this state of preservation. We can trace only one other set at auction (1984; this being 6 parts only (of8) and without the original box). Gumuchian calls it a ''livre recherché, soigneusement imprimé'. The engraved plates, which according to Gumuchian are 'coloriées d'une extrême finesse', depict playing with hoops and yo-yos; games of badminton, blind man's buff, tag, skittles and cup and ball; and 2 young ladies on a see-saw..
