Italian Grand Cross set, including a 5th class knight, (Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Corona d'Italia), with a sash badge, both sides enameled, central medallions gold, enameled, original (twisted) suspension loop and old sash, the obverse central disc featured the Iron Crown of Lombardy (as appeared on the Austrian Order of the Iron Crown) on a blue enamel backbround, the reverse central disc had a black-enamelled eagle bearing the Savoy cross on a golden background, 2'' diameter; breast Star, silvered metal with alternated smooth and brilliant cut rays, superimposed parts gold, enameled, reverse with vertical tapered pin and maker's mark reverse with makers mark E. Gardino Succ. Cravanzola, Roma, 3'' diameter, presented in the original case, issued from E. Gardino Succ. D. Cravanzola, Gioielliere, Roma, with the cipher of Victor Emmanuel on the lid in gilt, note: The Order of the Crown of Italy, (Ordine della Corona d'Italia), was established by Victor Emmanuel II in February 1868 on his accension as King of a United Italy and in celebration of the unification of the country
