Japanese large Satsuma-style ovoid vase, Meiji period, the tapering body well painted in overglaze enamels with wild geese in flight amid scattered flower petals silhouetted against a a full moon and gilt bands of mist, the waisted neck scattered with floral medallions on a turquoise ground below a gilt-edge dished rim, signed Dai Nihon Kyoto Kinkozan-zukuri (repair to rim), 19.25''h; Provenance: Deaccession USC Fisher Museum of Art, Los Angeles, California, to benefit the Acquisitions Fund

Condition report

Kikozan Vase: rim and portion of the neck has been broken and re-stuck with some chips missing from the rim edge [picture 5 on the internet]; wax and traces of adhesive on the base [picture 6]
