Francois de Leub (Belgium, 19th c.), Woman & Bird
oil on canvas (lined), signed at lower right, presented in gilt composition frame. SS 25 x 19 in. Three paintings by De Leub were included in an 1867 exhibition held by Bailey & Co. in Philadelphia and previewed at the Eastern Gallery of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Condition reportBlack light inspection reveals some minor touch-ups to floor and wall; the frame has been re-gilt and there is some flaking and minor chipping, especially to the sides. Overall a very attractive painting, ready for display.
