SCARCE THREE HORSE CHARIOT COIN, 79 B.C.

Diameter: .90 Inches. Metal: 14kt Gold Border. Silver denarius of Naevius Balbus issued in 79 B.C. The coin has a superb detailed image of Victory driving a three horse chariot known as a "triga". Almost all chariots were pulled by two or four horses, the three horse chariot was very rare and is only seen on a few early coins.The reverse has the helmeted head of Venus. Set in a 14kt yellow gold border. Comes complete with Certificate of Authenticity and descriptive brochure.
