Measures: Coins approximately 1.25 - 1.5" in Size. Metal: Spanish Silver. In 1964 while Jack Slack was diving just 1,000 yards offshore from the Lucayan Beach Hotel in the Grand Bahamas he had no idea of the treasure beneath him. Later named the Lucayan Beach Wreck, it yielded thousands of silver coins in just 10 feet of water. Most of these coins had heavy saltwater corrision from 400 years on the reefs. The lost ship was never identified, but popular belief ties the wreck to a Spanish galleon captured by the Dutch privateer Piet Heyn near Cuba in 1628. A great piece of 400 year old shipwreck history, your Piece of 8 comes in a custom rosewood presentation box. Includes descriptive brochure and Certificate of Authenticity.
