Printed and hand colored in 1778 by Johann Christian Daniel Von Schreber, a German naturalist Linnaeus' binominal system. From his multi-volume set, DIE SAUGETHIERE IN ABBILDUGEN NACH DER NATUR MIT BERSCHREIBUNGEN, which focused on mammals. These are two consecutive plates CCCXV and CCCXVI. Frame size 12 1/2" x 14 1/2".
