A RARE SUDANESE DAGGER

The symmetrical bone grip with flared and stepped bolsters and silver wire wrap, the pommel covered in lizard skin. The blade straight, double-edged, bifurcate and waved, and etched overall with pious Arabic inscriptions. In its wooden scabbard with lizard skin locket and chape, and covered with woven silver strips. A type characteristic of Samaniyya Sufis who fought under Mahdi Muhammad Ahmad.Last quarter of the 19th century.Overall length 40.8 cm. Condition I
