An exceptionally fine example, probably Visayan work. The broad, handforged blade of characteristic form with chiseled and inlaid baroque motifs, the hilt with ferrule and pommel of finely wrought and engraved silver. The grip a single section of dark horn very finely and elaborately carved in relief, comprising floral and basketweave motifs. In its scabbard composed of dark horn panels chiseled en suite with the hilt, with engraved silver locket and chape. Late 19th-early 20th century.Overall length 49.7 cm. Condition I
