A rarely encountered example, of characteristic form, but mounted entirely in silver, superbly embossed and chased in Ottoman baroque motifs, including scrolling vinework on a matted ground, together with serpents and imbrication at the tip, with shell-shaped finial. The heavy, double-edged blade forged of fine Persian black damascus wootz steel, with light curvature and raised central ridge. Mid-19th century.Overall length 44.5 cm. Condition I
