Rarely encountered, the faceted grip carved of a single section of brown horn which expands toward the pommel, with chiseled and profiled iron mounts decorated in baroque motifs, the knucklebow en suite with monster head quillon terminal and clamshell guard embellished with the head of Bacchus. The long, double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section with two short fullers at either side of the forte, struck with typically Spanish characters and marks. Second half of the 18th century.Guard slightly loose.Overall length 87.5 cm. Condition II
