The upswept head fixed to the haft at its base, terminating in a fully-modeled Blackbuck antelope’s head complete with fluted horns. The haft of octagonal section flanged along its length, with flared butt. Inlaid overall in elaborate geometrical and vine motifs in silver.First half of the 19th century. George Cameron Stone bequeathed a precisely similar axe to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Overall length 69.5 cm. Condition I
