A massive example of very fine quality with walrus grips, the tangbands and bolster forged of lavishly-chiseled wootz steel, true-inlaid in gold with pious inscriptions. The forte inscribed, VICTORY FROM GOD AND CONQUEST NIGH!, the single-edged blade forged of Persian Kara Taban (Brilliant Black) wootz damascus steel with original finish. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard with gilt binding. Mid- 18th century. Light wear, scabbard later. Overall length 41.5 cm. Condition I
