Circassian or Chechen work, the hilt of finely filigreed, gilded and nielloed silver. The leather-covered wooden scabbard mounted en suite with the hilt with fine, large mounts of gilded and filgreed silver, the reverse inscribed, YEAR 1212 (1797/98 c.e.) WORK OFWISA IBN ARTIN BULI.The well-forged blade with four fullers on the obverse and three on the reverse. End of the 18th century. Slight opening to reverse pommel seam.Overall length 52.6 cm. Condition II
