Very rarely encountered, the elongated head with button finial and six heavy flanges with spurred terminals and stepped base, the solid steel haft forged in one piece with the head. Late 15th-early 16th century. Representing the formal descendent of bronze flanged maces in use between the 11th-14thcentury. Overall length 69.9 cm. Condition I
