A robust example of characteristic Western Sudan form, the leather-covered grip with woven panel and stepped brass pommel, the long, straight, double-edged trade blade with triple fullers to either side. In its tooled and polychromed leather scabbard with flared tip, inscribed on the reverse with the name of the maker, WORK OF TABEH MUHAMMAD WAHEED and owner, MUHAMMAD KAMBEH. Early 20th century.Very light wear to leather, minor pitting to blade.Overall length 95.4 cm. Condition I
