Likely made at Epirus, the hardwood stock with fishtail butt, framed in russet iron with profiled edges and set with four Ottoman silver coins amongst by chip-carved folk motifs. The distinctive miquelet lock embellished with brass, the barrel chiseled in detail at the breech with the head of a grim-faced Greek klepht, or freedom fighter in the Greek War of Independence, wearing the characteristic mandili or head-scarf, retained to the stock by brass five brass barrel bands, with ramrod intact.
