The steel hilt chiseled and heavily overlaid in silver, with fine floral panels inlaid in gold, the integral knuckelbow terminating in a pair of well-chiseled monster’s heads, the pommel finial unscrews to reveal a compartment for gems. The massive, curved, double-edged blade of dramatically undulating form, forged of fine, actively-grained Persian Kara Khorassan wootz damascus steel and lavishly inlaid in gold vinework for its entire length on either side. In its later scabbard with pierced and gold-inlaid chape.Beginning of the 19th century. Light wear to blade. Overall length 98.4 cm. Condition I
