The head and haft forged of steel with profiling and brass inlay to the obverse. The wooden grip of expanding octagonal form set with embossed brass plaques struck with captured English stamps and studs, with lanyard ring. Mid-19th century. Light wear overall. Such picks were used against British mounted units with great effect during the Afghan Wars. Overall length 30.2 cm. Condition I
