Roughing It by Mark Twain (Samuel L. Clemens): Fully Illustrated by Eminent Artists; American Publishing Company, Hartford, Conn., 1872; First Edition, First State; book is in fair plus condition with no dust jacket; original brown cloth cover boards with gilt design on front and gilt lettering on spine; board are weak at hinges and spine is splitting from binding; boards show wear at corners and top and bottom of spine; spine is chipping at top and bottom; binding is strong and in tact; inside pages are bright and clean; includes many B&W illustrations; nice first edition with all points met: a perfect 'My' on line 3 on page xi and on line one of page 19; on page 242 lines 20-21 read 'premises-'said he was occupying his'; a capital 'E' in 'Eastern' on page 330; a capital 'T' in 'Trees' on page 156; 'thirteenth' on page 156; publishers advertisement appears on back page; front endpapers have some pencil writing on them and a tear on the second endpaper, otherwise inside pages are very nice and bright; outstanding first edition!
