10 pound artillery shell for the Civil War era Army Parrott rifle. Weight of shell is 9.5 lbs, accounting for surface looses due to being buried for over a century. 3 inch diameter projectile would have originally employed a one pound powder charge, being fired from a 1,726 lb (783 kg) rifled gun. Shell is in very good condition, with some deterioration typical to ground find projectiles.
