WWII JAPANESE KATANA LAST DITCH CAPTURE PROVENANCE

WWII 27 inch Japanese katana sword with unfinished tang and lacquered wood saya, indicating late war "last ditch" production. Sword was part of a group of captured items brought back by Sgt. H. C. Stephens, USMC, who served in the Pacific Theater from 1942 to 1945. Sword is accompanied by a copy of letter of provenance, signed by Sgt. Stephens's son. Sword is in overall very good condition.
