FRAMED OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING BY C.P. CRANCH

Framed Christopher P. Cranch, (American, 1813-1892) oil on canvas landscape painting. Attached to frame is an aged piece of paper which reads, "C.P. Cranch, Painting of: The Waterfall at Cave of the Winds, Niagara by C. P. Cranch. For: Mrs. Caroline Downing March, 1856." Cranch, most well known for his poetry, painted landscapes for over 50 years, and his works can be found in numerous collections. Canvas measures15 by 12, frame measures 20 by 17.5 by 2 inches. Frame missing some gesso, crack across body of painting, piece could use cleaning. Overall in very good condition.
