Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Lamp with Quezal Shade, Eugene Lelievre, Cast by Susse Fres, Paris, The vasiform standard issuing two scrolling leaf tendril arms with leafy candle cups, raised on a cartouche shape base cast with leafy sprays, fitted with a harp cage mount supporting the leafy cap and light socket, fitted with an iridescent glass shade, surmounted by a leafy finial, inscribed "E.Lelievre Sculp." and "Susse Fres" on the lamp base, the foot rim with Susse Fres Editions foundry stamp, shade fitter etched "Quezal." {Height 29 1/2 inches} The French Art Nouveau sculptor Eugene Lelievre was influenced by the bronzes of Meissonier. Winning a first class medal at the Salon de Artistes Francais, his work was sought after in his day.
