Circa 46-47 AD, Romano-British copying Lugdunum. Obv: TI CLAVD CAESAR AVG P M TR P VII IMP X legend with laureate bust right. Rev: SPQR PP OBCS legend in three lines within wreath. See CNG EA 232, lot 189 for a similar example (sold $850 in 2010"). 2.79 grams. Ex David Nelsen collection, ex Wortham, Suffolk hoard, 1995. From the hoard of approximately 170 fourree Claudius denarii found in 1995 near Wortham in Suffolk. These imitations were likely made in Britain around 50-51 AD.
