Dated 1896. Obv: relief dog's head in collar with CRUFT'S DOG SHOW legend. Rev: with WON BY legend and engraved THE CORTLAND WAGGON Co 1896 in three lines; with original base metal watchglass frame (detached and lacking glasses). 28.97 grams (plus 5.81 grams for frame"), 38.64 mm. Cruft's Dog Show was first held at Islington in 1891 and has become internationally famous to this day (under the auspices of The Kennel Club since 1948"). The Cortland Waggon Company of New York state, USA were well known for manufacturing a wide range of wagons, sleds and associated items in the mid to late 19th century.
