Circa 5th-3rd century BC A ceramic blackware prochus with globular body, pedestal base, tall neck, spout and handles; the spout decorated to each side with a modelled gorgon face; the body with horizontal bands of painted decoration in red, cream and white slip in egg-and-reel, scroll, key and leaf designs. Ceramic, 175 grams, 20 cm (8") From the estate of a deceased North Country collector, acquired over a 30 year period from the early 1970's; ex Ancient Art, London.
