Circa 1st century AD A group of two bow brooches comprising: a silver Birdlip type bow brooch with integral pin, the footplate with scrolled lobe elements, gilding to the sides and above the scrolls; a cast bronze bow brooch with silver inlaid animal head design, pelletted detail to the arm and outer edge of the bow, catchplate to the reverse. Silver, 26 grams, 66 mm; bronze, 24 grams, 69 mm (2 1/2-2 3/4") From an old English collection; ex Worthington collection, Leicester, UK. [2]
