Circa 1st-2nd century AD A sturdy silver keel ring comprising a D-section hoop expanding to facetted shoulders; the bezel formed as a lozenge with a central elliptical cloison containing a black stone intaglio depicting a bearded, seated figure wearing a diadem with a rod or wand in the left hand. Silver and stone, 20.4 grams, 27.9 mm overall (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 8, Europe 17.0, Japan 18") (1") Acquired on the London art market in the 1980's.
