Roman Bronze Decorated Strigil

Circa 1st-3rd century AD A large cast bronze strigil with everted end to the scoop, rectangular-section handle and bulb finial; the scoop with rib detail to the underside; the handle waisted at the lower end with ring-and-dot motif and the upper face with guilloche design; the bulb pierced to accept a suspension loop. Bronze, 135 grams, 27 cm (10 1/2") London collection; acquired in the 1950's.

Fine condition, possibly repaired.
