Circa 1st-2nd century AD A cast bronze openwork handle for a folding military knife, formed as a running hound on a base; at the upper end, a transverse running hare; hatched detailing to the hound, hare and base; bronze securing pin in place. Bronze, 23 grams, 66 mm (2 1/2") Ex David Winter collection, Kent. A rare variant of the standard motif of a hound chasing a hare.
