Circa 17th century AD A cast silver finger ring, the hoop formed as a pair of addorsed wings flanking the sharp-beaked head of the Huma, a mythical bird. Silver, 12 grams, 29 mm (approximate size British V, USA 10 3/4, Europe 24.28, Japan 23") (1") Acquired on the London art market in the 1960's. The Huma is a legendary bird of Iranian mythology and Sufi fable. It is said to never come to rest, living its entire life flying invisibly above the earth, and in some legends it is said to have no legs. [No Reserve]
