Late Uruk/Jemdet Nasr Period, circa 3100-2900 BC A mixed group of agate and alabaster stamp seals,three plano-convex and one in the form of a tortoise; drilled patterns to the underside. Stone, 15 grams, 14-23 mm (1/2-1") Ex Terence Eva collection. Tortoises were associated with the god of subterranean waters, Ea or Enki.

Fine condition; the tortoise very rare.
