An undated cast bronze axehead with tubular socket and comma-shaped blade; the socket with four transverse collars and spikes to the rear, each spike ending in a human head; the blade with thickened borders to the upper and lower edges, issuing from the mouth of a wolf, each with a running wolf modelled in the round; to each face of the blade, a modelled scene of a wolf attacking a quadruped. Bronze, 80 grams, 11cm (4 1/4") Acquired on the London art market in the 1960's. [No Reserve]
