Near Eastern Parthian Style Stone Flying Owl

An undated carved stone model of an owl in flight, with exaggerated discoid eyes, comma-shaped wings, chevron ornament to the upper body and pelletted grid to the forward wings; to the underside two reserved scrolled legs and inscribed scrolls to the wings; the tail with vertical ribbing and small rocket to the rear. Stone, 90 grams, 61 mm (2 1/2") Acquired on the London art market in the 1960's.

Very fine condition.
