Viking Silver Finger Ring

Circa 9th-11th century AD A cast silver finger ring with narrow hoop expanding to five twists on the upper face, replicating the high-status form of ring made from twisted rods of silver; traces of the gilding remaining to the inner faces of the twists. Cf. silver-twist rings in the Ipsas hoard, Latvia in Hardh, B. Silver in the Viking Age. A Regional-Economic Study, Stockholm, 1996 fig.29.
