Circa 17th-18th century AD A fabricated silver pendant comprising a deep lidded case with ropework band to the rim and suspension loop, depicting on one face a cross between two rosettes with surrounding wreath and on the reverse a sunrise over a chalice with a cross above, on a pecked background within a punched-point border; within the reliquary, a carved wooden disc depicting a crowned monarch with sword and sceptre inside a curtained frame, covered in gold leaf and painted with red and black detailing; the lid painted on the inner face with a robed nimbate figure holding a plant-stem; Spanish colonial workmanship. Silver and wood, 60 grams, 62 mm (2 1/2") Silk collection, London, UK; formed in the 1950's. [No Reserve]
