Circa 14th century AD A bronze heraldic chessman seal matrix with discoid base, hexagonal stem and pierced lozengiform handle; the design of the seal comprising a heater shield bearing a chevron pelletty between three pheons; around the border the text '+S' RADODEHIIOSET' in Lombardic capitals. Bronze, 14 grams, 26 mm (1") Private collection, Nottinghamshire, UK; found Lincoln in 1992. The heraldic 'pheon' is a broad arrowhead. Similar arms were borne by the Sulyarde family, without the pellets on the chevron.
