Medieval Gregory VIIII Papal Bulla

Circa 13th century AD A lead papal bull to the obverse, 'SPA.SPE' legend within a pelletted border, two bearded busts and a cross between; to the reverse, within a pelletted border the legend 'GRE/GORIVS/PP. VIIII'. Lead, 50 grams, 42 mm (1 1/2") Property of a Buckinghamshire Gentleman; acquired before 1990. Pope Gregory IX was born Ugolino di Conti and was pope from March 19, 1227 to August 22, 1241.

Very fine condition.
