Early 19th century AD A gold stamp seal with octagonal base; the stem a column of openwork foliage and the loop with piriform void; the seal a carnelian carved with armorial bearings of the Crisp family of Kent, the helmet, shield, crest and mantling clearly depicted. Gold and carnelian, 4.85 grams, 25 mm (1") Ex Ellen Burgess collection, Kent; left to her by her grandmother. The armorial bearings of the Crisp or Crispe family include a shield blazoned Or, on a chevron sable five horseshoes argent.
