Dated 1829 A gold and silver rectangular mourning brooch comprising: to the obverse a series of eighteen pearls in a hatched border surrounding a glass panel revealing a lock of hair; to the reverse the pin and catchplate in place; the plate inscribed in copperplate script 'E. Long/Obt.July 6th 1829/at 63/R. Long/Obt. Dec.25 1829/at 58'. Gold, silver and pearl, 5.50 grams, 27 mm (1") Private collection, Nottinghamshire, UK; acquired late 1980's-early 1990's.
